Remote Learning Technology

Over this past summer the Sioux City Community School District Curriculum Department has been enhancing their curriculum maps to add a digital dimension in order to provide virtual learning for those who choose it and in the event that District determines for the safety of the students, teachers and staff that remote learning be the only method of educational delivery.  The Technology Department is supporting the Curriculum Department in providing devices for all students and tools that will deliver the content and programs identified by the Curriculum Department.

  • Grades up through 1st grade the student will have an iPad as their device.
  • Grades 2-12 they will have a Microsoft Windows laptop as their device.

All students will use an application called Clever to access their digital books and programs, Clever also has aClever Parent Portal where parents can access the digital content and programs their students use.  Microsoft Teams will be the tool for teachers and students to attend class virtually.

Parents will have access to change their contact information and view their student's grades and attendance using the Infinite Campus Parent Portal

Secondary teachers and students (middle school and high school) use a product called Canvas for creating assignments and taking assessments. Parents/guardians can access the Canvas Parent Portal to track progress on assignments and see assessment results.

Below is a directory of documentation and videos to help you understand and use these tools.  This information is organized by grade levels:
