Setting VLC Media Player as Default Media Player to play voicemails from Outlook.


Create a step-by-step guide

  • Step 1: Verify VLC Media Player is installed.
  • Step 2: Navigate to the "Default Apps" in settings. 
  • Step 3: Search for the ".WAV" Filetype and set to VLC Media Player. 


Step 1: Access the template list view

  • Let's confirm that VLC Media Player is installed. This should be a default application pushed for Staff Devices. 
    • Press the Windows key and type "VLC". The application will have an Icon of a traffic cone.
  • If VLC is installed, Continue to Step 2. 


Step 2: Open Default Apps. 

  • Press the Windows key and search Default Apps.


Step 3: Set VLC Media Player as default for .WAV file types. 

  • After opening Default Apps, Click the search bar and type ".wav" as seen below. Click on the arrow on the Right-Hand sign as seen above. You will get the following Pop-Up windows. Select VLC Media Player and click Set Default on the bottom right. 


From here you should now be able to play the Voicemail Messages sent to you in Outlook.
