6th Grade Science (with Mr. Rorris)
is studying Space Science, specifically the planets and how gravity changes on
different size planets.
The Elevator Lab simulates
the feeling of weightlessness. The students, using the Vernier Labpro,
laptop computer, and Force Plate measured their weight when the elevator
accelerated, traveled at a constant speed, and decelerated to see what would
happen to their own weight if they were on a planet that had more or less
gravity than Earth. The students then made connections to amusement park
rides that create the same feelings of weightlessness for the riders.
